For visitors Hiroshima Prefecture offers many events and traditional Japanese festivals throughout all the seasons.
Pick the events you like that fit your travel plans.

This is a huge festival held annually from May 3-5. Flamboyant parades of dance groups and bands composed of citizens, accompanied by floats decorated with flowers, march along the 100-meter wide Peace Boulevard. Various events and shows are presented on different stages set up along the boulevard. The festival is also noted for its beautiful flower displays.

This brilliant display of fireworks which takes place in front of the Itsukushima Shrine gives a poetic charm to summer. The fireworks over the water are reflected on the sea. It is quite dazzling to see the fireworks against the backdrop of vermilion-colored O-torii. Many people from within and outside Hiroshima come to see it every year on August 14.

This festival has a history more than 430 years. It is held annually on the second weekend in August from Friday to Sunday Yassa Dance is quite a sight.
People dance through the city crying "Yassa, yassa!" to the accompaniment of lively music. It started a long time ago when people celebrated the completion of Mihara Castle, dancing around and playing such musical instruments as shamisen, drums and flutes.
